InnerSpace Rack
Below are three typical pallet rack designs. Bulk rack is similar,
adding decking to store smaller items.
InnerSpace can help you determine the load and storage requirements you have and
help you select the product that is right for you.
|
Pallet rack is designed for the maximum load and typical pallet sizes.
Decking can be added for bulk rack and odd sized items and wire decking
is often used where sprinklers are otherwise required. Guard rails and
netting can be included for safety and to reduce damage. Larger footplates
and longer beam connections are often added in seismic zones 3 and 4.
|
|
Cantilever rack is generally used where items are longer than 110" or where
pallet rack uprights impede proper storage. Decking allows for smaller items
to be stored between load bearing arms.
|
|
High-density storage maximizes capacity by removing aisles. Flow rack,
shown here, provides "First In - First Out" (FIFO) stock rotation.
Other options include "Push Back", "Drive Through",
"Carton Flow", "Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems"
(ASRS),as well as others. "Pick to Light" systems are often incorporated
into carton flow solutions that can be then tied to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
|
There are many more rack decisions:
- The forklift you use determines the minimum rack aisle space.
- Choose between "Structural", "Tubular", or "'C'-Channel" based on capacity, zone, use and abuse.
- Choose between "Static", "Drive-Through", "Flow", "Push-Back", "Stacking", and "Cantilever" based on price, workflow and product turnover velocity.
- Racks over 8 to 12 foot high may require special engineering, permits or sprinkler systems depending on your location.
- Accessories like decking and guide rail may increase the usefulness and longevity of your rack.
- Preserve your assets by comparing manufacturer warrantees.
- InnerSpace can help you with these choices, as well as installation, shipping and permits. Lease options are also available.
